Bran Hambric: The Specter Key

I just finished reading Kaleb Nations newest addition to the Bran Hambric Series: Bran Hambric The Specter Key. I must say the book kept my interest. There were many twists and turns and unexpected scenes in the story that kept me reading on and on. Warning for the blog: *spoilers*

The story starts with Bran finding an old box in the Bank vault with his mothers name on it. Unable to open it, he brings it to his friends Adi and Astara, fellow mages, to figure it out; the result being that none of them could get the box open. Feeling slughtly discouraged but hghly curious, Bran brings the box home and strange things start happening. Bran was able to find a name in the box and soon discovered it to be a hotel (or apartment I wasn't actually sure which lol). When he and Astara went to investigate, they soon found out that Bran was being spied upon. Later, Bran discovers his father Thomas, known as "T" in the first novel, is the man keeping tabs on him.

Later on, during a celebration known as "Fridd's day" Bran heads to the party with Adi and Astara where things get starnge when the lights go out and the house fills with Green light. Astara seems drawn to the lights and tragedy develops. Astara is announced dead and Bran is filled with devestaion. The box, Bran determines, was the cause of Astaras death and tries to get rid of it, only the box keeps coming back to him.

Eventually Bran gathers the clues and follows them, only to find out Adi has a brother by the name of Gary, and is told that only Gary can help him figur eout the secret of The Specter Key (which he finds inside the mysterious box). As he follows more and more clues Bran is lead to a temple where he is told The Specter Key will free "The Specters" who he believes to be holding Astara.

His father leads him there and event take place, causing the reader to gasp many times. In the end, however, Bran frees the Specters and gains Astara back.

This is a very brief summary of the story and doesn't do the actual book justice in any way. Kaleb has managed to write a very well written and eventful story that will keep your attention to the very end. I think one of my favourite moments in the book, however, was the end where Gary tells Bran he loves him as a son. It was a touchful moment that made me smile and want to cry, actually.

I want to congragulate Kaleb on a very well done on The Specter Key, and wish him luck on the next addition to this wonderful series.

Read on,
